Why Indian Teams Look for a Salesforce Alternative
Salesforce is the most capable CRM in the market. For most Indian SMBs the problem is not capability, it is arithmetic, and it shows up in three places (Salesforce pricing read on 11 September 2026):
- It is priced in dollars. Starter Suite is $25 per user per month billed yearly, which converts to over Rs 2,000 a user. There is no rupee list price, so your CRM bill moves with the exchange rate.
- The entry tier is not the tier you stay on. The next tier up from Starter Suite is $100 per user per month, a 4x jump. The features a growing team asks for in year two are priced four times higher than the plan it signed.
- Indian payroll is not in the box at any tier. PF, ESIC and TDS are legal obligations for most Indian companies past 20 employees, so that becomes a second vendor, a second bill and a second login.
None of that is a criticism of the product. It is a description of who it is priced for.
The Alternative: ViveLead
ViveLead is a sales CRM built for Indian SMBs, from Rs 499 per user per month (minimum 3 users) with no setup fee, monthly or yearly billing in rupees, and a real 3-day trial:
| Salesforce (as published) | ViveLead | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $25/user/month billed yearly, over Rs 2,000 converted | Rs 499/user/month, billed in rupees |
| Next tier up | $100/user/month | Rs 999 (Professional), Rs 1,699 (Business) |
| Currency and billing | US dollars, annual | Rupees, monthly or yearly |
| Lead and deal pipeline | Yes | Yes, every plan |
| Quotations | Yes, on higher tiers | Yes, from Starter (Rs 499) |
| Calls logged from the rep’s own phone | Not a Salesforce feature | SIM call tracking from Starter: every call in and out lands on the lead with the recording, duration and outcome, no per-minute bill. Android only |
| WhatsApp (official API) | AppExchange app, priced separately | Professional (Rs 999), no setup fee |
| PF, ESIC, TDS payroll | Not offered at any tier | Optional add-on, +Rs 99/user on any plan |
| Customization depth | The deepest in the market | Custom fields, stages and pipelines, not custom objects or code |
| Auto-dialer | Via AppExchange | No |
| Free trial | Yes | 3 days, no card |
Salesforce details as published on salesforce.com on 11 September 2026. Salesforce sells to India in US dollars, so every rupee figure here is a conversion rather than a quoted price. Subject to change.
The honest trade-off: Salesforce’s configuration model, AppExchange and multi-country support are genuinely deeper, and nothing at Rs 499 replaces them. If your ops team writes Apex or your pipeline runs on custom objects, this page is not for you.
What ViveLead has that Salesforce has no equivalent of at this price is SIM call tracking. The rep dials from their own phone, keeping their own number, and the call writes itself on to the lead with the recording, duration, direction and outcome. Incoming calls too. Nothing routes through us, so there is no per-minute bill at any plan level. Recording asks for a one-time setup on each handset, the phone’s own recorder switched on and the recording folder picked once in the app, after which it runs without the rep doing anything. Android only, because iOS does not expose the call log to any app.
The Cost Math
Year one, before GST. ViveLead’s prices exclude 18 percent GST. Salesforce figures are conversions from dollars and move with the exchange rate.
5 users, CRM only: ViveLead Starter costs Rs 29,940 (Rs 499 x 5 x 12). Salesforce Starter Suite is $1,500 ($25 x 5 x 12), which converts to over Rs 1,20,000. ViveLead lands at roughly a quarter of the price, and SIM call tracking is included in that number.
10 users, CRM with WhatsApp: ViveLead Professional comes to Rs 1,19,880 with the official WhatsApp Business API included and no setup fee. Salesforce Starter Suite for ten users is $3,000, over Rs 2,40,000 converted, and WhatsApp is a separate AppExchange app priced on its own. Meta’s message charges are billed by Meta to your own account either way.
Add Indian payroll: on ViveLead it is Rs 99 per user per month on any plan, so Rs 11,880 a year for ten users on the same login. On Salesforce there is no equivalent at any tier.

Who Should Switch, and Who Should Not
Switch to ViveLead if you are an Indian sales team under about 50 people, you want to be billed in rupees monthly, you need quotations and WhatsApp without a per-app bill, you want PF, ESIC and TDS payroll on the same login, or your reps work the phone all day and you want every one of those calls on the lead without a per-minute telephony bill.
Stay on Salesforce if your pipeline runs on custom objects or Apex, you operate across several countries, you have a Salesforce-trained ops function, you depend on specific AppExchange apps, or you are past roughly 50 users. At that point the licence saving is the smallest number in the decision.
How Switching Works
- Export leads, contacts, accounts and opportunities from Salesforce as CSV.
- ViveLead maps and imports the data, free on every plan. How long it takes depends on how much data you have and how complex it is.
- Rebuild what does not travel: reports, custom objects, Apex and AppExchange configuration have to be recreated as ViveLead fields and reports. Scope this before you cancel.
- Live training covers pipeline, calling and HRMS.
- Go live, validate a full month, then cancel Salesforce.
